A variety of courses are available at the Markham Guild of Village Crafts to satisfy your interest. Enroll in some classes and see what you can do!

Classes are open to members and non-members.

REGISTRATION: Please register with the individual instructor for the respective course. Students must register 2 week prior to class start date. Most classes require additional materials fees which are not included in the prices stated unless otherwise stated. Validate times and additional fees with each instructor when registering. Cheques should be made payable to: Markham Guild of Village Crafts.

REFUND POLICY: Full Refund: If the program you choose is cancelled by the Guild.
                         Partial Refund: $5.00 administration and material fees are not refundable if cancelled by the student.
                         No Refund: If student cancels later than one (1) week prior to the beginning of the course.

This is an art class that is focused on pre–teens and early teens. Students will develop their artistic skills and creativity while learning about a variety of art mediums and techniques. The projects are designed with the interests of this age group in mind.

Date:  Saturdays, September 17, 24, October 1, 8, 15, 22, 2011 (6 weeks)
Time:  10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Learn to cast on, knit and purl stitches, cast off, increase and decrease, as well as pattern reading. Fair Isle, cable, knitting in the round and on 4 needles will be taught in the Intermediate group. Bring your own project if you have one.

This class will teach various crochet stitches with an introduction to elementary crochet techniques.

Various crochet techniques will be taught, colour changing, shaping and complex stitches. The class is providing guidance in pattern reading for novice crochet student. Bring your own project and/or get some new pattern(s) free.

Crochet Buddies



 


These ongoing classes will teach advanced crochet skills and special techniques some of which are crochet with beads. Projects vary from making crochet accessories, bags to go and crochet jewelry, to making socks and other charity crochet items . All kinds of projects or crochet problems are welcome! Bring your own work and/or get familiar with new skill. ** Prerequisites: Students must have basic crochet skills. **

Date:  Wednesdays, December 7, 2011, January 11, 2012, February 1 & 29, 2012  (4 evenings)
