laid off any time after January 1, 2005 you may be eligible to apply for Second Career. This
session will provide step-by-step information about the eligibility and suitability criteria for

ESL (English as a Second Language)
COSTIs ESL Basic level program
teaches students to improve their English speaking, listening,
reading, and writing skills. Students will learn English quickly, and
have ample opportunity to speak and participate in English discussions
and exercises.
This program is delivered by certified instructors in partnership with
the Toronto and York Catholic District School Boards.
Students attending the ESL
Basic level program, will learn:
- basic conversational English; and
- basic grammar structures within English conversation.
Services are available to Canadian
citizens, landed immigrants, convention refugees, or refugee claimants
with a study permit. Students must be 18 years of age or older.
Day and evening programs
are available.

Language & Skills Trainings Services
COSTI provides English
language training as well as Enhanced Language Training for
Internationally Trained Professionals at Welcome Centre Immigrant
Services in Markham North. Childminding services are also provided to
eligible participants who attend these training programs as well as
other services at the centre.
Through a partnership of agencies, one-stop service is available to
residents of York Region at Welcome Centre Immigrant Services. Services
include: settlement and integration services; language training and
enhanced language training in the accounting field; accreditation and
qualification assistance, and employment supports.
