The Chinese New Year is the most significant festival in the Chinese culture. Chinese overseas also hold all kind of activities to celebrate this lunar New Year. As part of its New Year celebration, the Chinese Professionals Association of Canada (CPAC) will be hosting a dinner and dance party featuring an award winning pair of Latin ballroom dancers.
This annual event, title sponsored by BMO Bank of Montreal, will be held at the Golden Regency Restaurant in the Pacific Mall, Markham, on Saturday, January 19, 2013.
The CPAC Year of Snake Dance Party provides not only a stage for CPAC members and ballroom dance lovers to show their dancing skills while celebrating the Chinese New Year with their family and friends, but also a great networking opportunity to make friends with all kinds of people from the community.
To add to the festive atmosphere, CPAC has invited the International Latin Ballroom Dance Champions Fiona Su and Oscar Naranjo as guest performers to demonstrate their feats in Salsa. Well-known community line dance leaders Charlie Zou and Lin Hong Zhang will also be present to get everyone on their feet.
Apart from the exciting performances and singing and dance activities, the 10 course dinner itself is enough to make everyone satisfied.
In addition, there will be lucky draws for all the guests.

On Saturday, February 2nd, 2013, the Markham YMCA- Rudy Bratty Center will be hosting its annual Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration from
10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Formal festivities begin at 10:30am so arrive early!
On this day, approximately 1000 people from the Markham community will be celebrating together this wonderful event free of cost.
Participants will experience demonstrations from a number of performers including: Traditional Lion Dance, Traditional Chinese Orchestra,
Traditional Chinese Dance Group, Traditional Japanese Dance Group, Tai Chi demonstrations, and an Abacus presentation.
There will also be local vendors selling one of a kind traditional crafts.

the great and continued support of the City of Markham and
the Chinese Real Estate Brokerage Association (CCREBA), our
annual Chinese New Year Celebration at the City of Markham
has been successfully held at the Civic Centre for the last
14 years.
This
special event is one of the few events that the City of
Markham co-host with a non-profit organization. Our Mayor is
adamant that we throw this event in order to bring the
Chinese community to the main stream market.
This
year, our 15th year, will be call CNY 2013 Winter Carnival.
There will be lots of fun, performances and activities for
everybody, families and friends. Our endeavor will be a main
stream event with Chinese and Canadian contents throughout
the day.
Activities
include Mayor's eye-dotting ceremony, dragon dance, and God
of Fortune, cultural dance, live stage performances, lai-see
giveaway and public outdoor skating. We are hoping this
event will be a family celebrating event for all of GTA
population and our goal is make this event a meaningful
'Family Day' weekend!
We
have attracted more than 2,000 families to our event every
year and we are sure that there will have more families from
main stream and ethnic communities participating to our
Winter Carnival this year.

To celebrate this memorable occasion and to welcome the Chinese New Year of the Snake,
FCCM has organized a special art exhibition with the Han Shan Temple of China. In it,
you will be able to see restored grotto art objects, stone carvings, and calligraphy displays.
The Han Shan & Combination Cultural Exhibition will take place at our new centre from
February 16 to February 28, 2013. It will be open to the public daily between 10 a.m. to 6
p.m. during this period.
The grand opening ceremony of the exhibition by the Hon. Jason Kenney, Minister of
Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism of Canada, will be held on February 16,
2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for our special friends. We cordially invite you and your
