International Museum Day

special activities for the whole family to
celebrate International Museum Day.
this opportunity to visit the Museum,
participate in our family drop-in
activities and enjoy our current
exhibitions. Learn to Camp with Parks
Canada staff, and participate in a variety
of nature themed activities.
Geared for Growing Exhibition
Visit the Geared for Growing exhibition,
an exciting hands-on family friendly
exploration of Markham’s rich agricultural
history through the machines used in
farming. Learn about the many simple
machines that make up some of the amazing
complex machines that help us in our daily
lives and on the farm. From tractors
to threshing machines, there are so many
machines to discover.
Symmetry in Nature
Explore nature through a different lens!
Symmetry and patterns are all around us.
Families will explore the patterns in
nature, using mirrors to learn about
symmetry and find symmetrical patterns in
the world around us.
Sun Paper Craft
Using natural materials, families can
create a sun-masterpiece. Staff will
provide various materials, from leaves to
sticks, and encourage families to create
their own pattern on the SunArt paper.
After exposing it to the sun, they will
have a beautiful creation to take home!
Planting the Flower Beds
Roll up your sleeves and get messy!
Families will have to get out their green
thumbs to help us plant some of our
flowerbeds. Using native flowers, families
will help us fill our planters for the
spring and summer months.

experienced Parks Canada staff member!
From pitching a tent, to building a camp
fire, you’ll be a camping pro in no time.
**No Guided Tours will be offered during
International Museum Day.
