Accepted materials:
- Cables; high and low grade wire including Christmas lights
- Cell Phones & Digital Cameras, Bluetooth, PDA's
- Circuit boards
- Commercial & Industrial Electronic Equipment
- E-Readers
- External Storage Media Devices (External Hard Drives, Floppy, CD/DVD/Blue Ray)
- GPS with any accessories
- Loose internal computer components
- Media Players (IPod, MP3, CD)
- Memory Chips, Sticks, USB Drives, Processors
- Mice, Keyboards, Webcams, Computer Speakers
- Monitors and Televisions (CRT, LCD, Plasma, Rear Projection, Console)
- Networking products (Routers, Switches, Patch Cables)
- Phones & Fax Machines (Cordless, Landline and Rotary included)
- Photocopiers (Table Top and Free Standing)
- Printers & Scanners (remove toner cartridges)
- Projectors (Includes Overhead)
- Radios, Speakers, Amplifiers, Electronic Music Equipment, Record Players, Cassette Players, Alarm Clocks (Tapes, VHS, Records, and 8 Tracks accepted)
- Security Surveillance Equipment (Home and Commercial Systems)
- Servers, including racks and cages
- Tablets  (Playbook, iPad)
- Video Game Systems & Controllers, Leap Frog, Vtech (Games Included)

Not accepted as electronic waste:

- Furniture (i.e. TV stands)
- Household hazardous materials
- Medical devices
- Smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors (remove batteries) and dispose as garbage
- Toner cartridges (remove from printer before dropping off) return to manufacturer

Tips:
Remove all batteries from electronic items
Batteries can be disposed of safely at any Markham Recycling Depot, community centre or library

Protect your privacy. Clear all personal information from computers, cell phones and electronics prior to drop off. The City is not responsible for personal information contained on your electronic devices.
