Come join us for an orientation
session on the Starter Company Program!
Starter Company program is open to entrepreneurs who are
out of school and not currently working. It provides an
opportunity for eligible young people to get training,
advice and mentoring to help build a business. The
program also provides an opportunity to apply for a
grant of up to $5,000 to start or grow a business.
If you are:
18-29 years old
Not employed full
Not in a full-time education program or
returning to school
Not currently enrolled in an
Ontario Self Employment Benefit (SEB) program
Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in
And are willing to:
Create and follow
a business plan and a 2-year financial forecast
to participate in monthly training and mentoring
meetings over a 6-month period
Agree to provide
business reports to the Markham Small Business Centre
for verification over a 6-month period.
company: should be in existence for less than a few
months - with revenues projected within the early
portion of the 6-month period. Funds can be spent on
inventory, marketing, etc.
Growth Company: funds
must be used for expansion costs leading to part-time or
full time employment.
