Pathways to Success, Series 2: Identify your Skill Set and Interests,
Understand the Canadian Job Market and Trends, Find your Ideal Job

(joint program between Markham Public Library and CICS Immigrant Youth Centre (IYC))

Wednesdays, September 21 - December 7, 2016 - 4:00-6:00pm

Location: Milliken Mills Library
                     7600 Kennedy Rd.  map

Designed for youth ages 15 to 21 to identify their skill set and interests, understand the Canadian job market and trends, so that they can set their career goal and find their ideal job.

Target Audience: Youth between the ages of 15 – 21 years (no restriction on immigrant status – can be permanent resident, visa student or citizen to join)

Program Highlights/Objectives:

· Participants will identify their skill set and learn career mapping skills

· Participants will learn basic employment preparation skills, such as reading a job posting properly, filling out application forms and interview skills

· Participants will have a better understanding of the Canadian job market and trends

· Participants may earn some volunteer hours

· Possible opportunity to hear guest speaker from HSBC or high school/university student who has mapped their career and achieved his/her goal

· Participants will learn ways to obtain support from the public library, and discover library services and resources
