New Year's Day Levee

At the Markham Civic Centre

 the Governor General's Horse Guards will be participating 

in the Town of Markham New Year's Day Levee

 with a flag-raising ceremony at 1:30 p.m. 

 The Governor General's Horse Guards are celebrating their 200th anniversary of the cavalry troop.

As Canada’s senior militia regiment, the Governor General’s Horse Guards traces an unbroken history back to 1810,

when Captain John Button raised the first cavalry troop in Upper Canada (Markham).
