Milne Dam Conservation Park is Markham's largest park of 123 hectare or 305 acre with the Rouge River flowing in the middle and surrounded with a lush forest on the southern and eastern edges. It is located on the east side of McCowan Road, just south of Highway 7.  It is open seasonally and for vehicles from 8 a.m. to dusk from Victoria Day to Thanksgiving Day.  map

The park offers 2.3 kilometres of trails suitable for walking, jogging and cycling as well a beach area. It features 12 picnic areas that accommodate for 50 to 300 people. Special programs are also available through the year such as the Canada Day Celebrations.

Mine Park is considered one of the best kept treasure of Markham because it features a variety of plants and wildlife. View every spring and fall, the many migratory birds in the early mornings and evenings as they stop off in Milne Dam Conservation Park.

Urban fishing is a popular recreation activity in the Rouge River of the park. A MNR fishing permit is required and available at Canadian Tire stores or bait shops.

Admission is free during the week. There is a $5 parking fee on weekends and statutory holidays. The park is also accessible by the public transit of York Region and TTC.

The park can be used for large picnic functions. A new modern picnic shelter is available to accommodate up to 100 people. There are full service washrooms available.

For more information about the Milne Dam Conservation Park, please call Town of Markham - Parks Department customer service at 905-415-7535.
