MARKHAM AT THE MOVIES is pleased to launch its second season and gratefully acknowledges Svengali Salon (Main Street, Markham) – the 2011-2012 Season Sponsor! 

An initiative of the Markham Arts Council, Markham at the Movies is a partner of the Toronto International Film Festival Film Circuit. 

It is a non-profit group run by volunteers and film enthusiasts who focus on bringing award-winning Canadian and international films to our own doorstep. Our film choices are made with an eye to entertain and enlighten audiences.

Exit through the Gift Shop
September 20, 2011 - 7 p.m. 
Four stars for this gem of a film. It won nine international awards for Best Documentary and was shortlisted for a 2011 Oscar. A unique eye into the world of street art through the lens of the illusive British graffiti artist, Bansky, as writer, director, and cast member.

Of Gods and Men

Under threat by fundamentalist terrorists, a group of Trappist monks stationed with an improvised Algerian community must decide whether to leave or stay.

The First Grader

The true story of an 84 year-old Kenyan villager and an ex Mau Mau freedom fighter who fights for his rights to go to school for the first time to get the education he could never afford.
