The Markham Jazz Festival presents an incredible double-bill with two of the jazz world’s finest artists, brilliant pianist Bill Charlap, and stunning vocalist Gretchen Parlato.

BILL CHARLAP A Jazz fan's delight and a two-time Grammy Award nominee, Bill Charlap is a master for interpreting the classic songbooks that are at the heart of so much jazz. His recordings include the music of George Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael, and Cole Porter and he has performed with music greats Phil Woods, Tony Bennett and Wynton Marsalis. Bill Charlap is the artistic director of New York City's Jazz in July Festival at the 92nd Street Y, and he has produced concerts for Jazz at Lincoln Centre and the Hollywood Bowl.

GRETCHEN PARLATO is a young innovative vocalist who is quickly establishing herself as one of the unique voices in jazz. Based in New York, she has toured throughout Europe and Australia to sold-out performances, promoting her albums 'In a Dream' and her newest album 'The Lost and Found' which is garnering rave reviews and dominating the jazz vocal charts. She has been dubbed a rising star, a stunning performer, and "the most important jazz singer in a generation." The Markham Gala will be Gretchen Parlato's GTA debut and her only performance in southern Ontario – don't miss it!
