A variety of courses are available at the Markham Guild of Village Crafts to satisfy your interest. Enroll in some classes and see what you can do!

Classes are open to members and non-members.

REGISTRATION: Please register with the individual instructor for the respective course. Students must register 2 week prior to class start date. Most classes require additional materials fees which are not included in the prices unless otherwise stated. Validate times and additional fees with each instructor when registering. Cheques should be made payable to: Markham Guild of Village Crafts.

REFUND POLICY: Full Refund: If the program you choose is cancelled by the Guild.
                                  Partial Refund: $5.00 administration and material fees are not refundable if cancelled by the student.
                                  No Refund: If student cancels later than one (2) week prior to the beginning of the course.

Curl and coil narrow strips of paper into coils and scrolls and assemble them into motifs such as flowers, insects and snowflakes, to decorate cards or make stand alone objects or decorations. For beginning students but returning students will be shown new techniques.

An on-going class for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced students. Allows the student to acquire technical skill in Hand-building and Wheelthrowing. Practice both techniques with stoneware clay and porcelain. The experiment in glaze, kiln loading and firing will be discussed as the student advances in knowledge and experience.

There are a maximum of 6 students per class to allow for individual attention. Material fee included (Clay fee $15.00 (for 10kg.)).  10 weeks each session.

Dates: Mondays, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
           Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
           Sundays, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

This is an art class that is focused on pre-teens and early teens. Students will develop their artistic skills and creativity while learning about a variety of art mediums and techniques. The projects are designed with the interests of this age group in mind. This class is ongoing in sessions of 6 weeks each. Spring classes begin on Saturday, March 6.

FOR BEGINNERS

 

Stained Glass



Beginner classes to acquire skills to work with stained glass, including glass cutting, refining glass shapes with a grinder, copper foil construction, lead came construction, soldering and finishing pieces. Projects include snowflake sun catcher, sun catcher, glass panel. Maximum 10 students. Materials extra.
