Hello! Our names are Iris Chow, Erica Chow, Vanessa Cui, and Isabel Tang and we are Global Outreach Leaders from Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School in Markham. Our main goals are to raise awareness and fundraise for a non-governmental organization called Free the Children. The main issues that we are addressing as a team are the cleanliness of water and gender equality in Africa. As a team, we believe that any individual have the power to help and dramatically improve the lifestyle of each African family. Therefore we are going to take action by fundraising for the Clean Water Project for Free the Children by building a well in Kenya. This will provide an opportunity for communities to thrive by themselves. In addition we want to fundraise for the Alternative Income Project, so we can provide goats to women so they can feel empowered because they have the opportunity to control their money. To fundraise for these projects, we will be hosting a dinner, auction and games.
We are organizing a fundraising event called “LiVE for AFRiCA” on Sunday January 17, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 10
p.m. at Spring Rolls 4841 Yonge Street. This event will be a dinner and auction, where everyone can enjoy the food and the entertainment that we will provide. We are reaching for a goal of 100 people to attend. We are hoping that you can support us by coming and bring your friends!
This dinner is a buffet which cost $28 if you order your ticket before Dec. 19, 2009. After that the ticket will cost $30.
In addition, each ticket you buy, you will receive a raffle ticket.
