"Escape Room – Lost in the Library" Youth Designers team program

(joint program between Markham Public Library and CICS Immigrant Youth Centre (IYC))

Tuesdays, April 4 - May 23, 2017 - 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.
(8 sessions + an Escape Room – Lost in the Library
 Special Event: Saturday, May 27, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.)

Location: Thornhill Community Centre Library

Designed for immigrant youth to increase their level of confidence by creating and designing a successful Escape Room, practicing skills such as: event planning, time management and customer service.

In addition, they will be involved in planning and executing an Escape Room – Lost in the Library Special Event, which will provide them with volunteer opportunities.

Target Audience: Youth between the ages of 13 – 18 years

Program Highlights:

 · Youth will increase their teamwork building, communication and leadership skills by designing the Escape Room

 · Youth will acquire event planning, time management and customer service skills by designing and implementing the Escape Room – Lost in the Library Special Event

 · Newcomer youth will learn ways to obtain support from the public library, and discover library services and resources

 · Youth will earn volunteer hours through the project
