St. Brother Andre Catholic High School is holding its third annual B-Strong Walk talking place April 22nd, starting at 9:00 a.m. to raise funds for B-Strong, a charity founded by former student Lindsay Bolger who fought a battle with brain cancer. The following day, the official B-Strong walk will take place in Markham. April 22nd is Lindsay's birthday; she passed away on November 26th, 2009 at the age of 26. The school hopes to raise thousands for brain cancer research and surpass its last two year totals. Prior to the walk, Mr. Bolger will speak to students at a school assembly which will include a recent made interview with a research doctor at Princess Margaret Hospital and students from St. Brother Andre.

B-Strong Background:
B-Strong was founded by Lindsay Bolger and her family, shortly after Lindsay was diagnosed with a rare form of brain tumour in April of 2005. Prior to her first 6-week radiation treatment, she designed a baseball cap with her mom and a friend in anticipation of hair loss, and to help out others fighting similar battles.

B-Strong has raised funds through its B-Strong Bash and various other events, the sale of over 5,000 caps and “Lindsay” Bears and more recently the B-Strong Walk. All funds raised by B-Strong target brain tumour research. Over $855,000 has been raised by B-Strong through the support of sponsors, supporters and participants and has been donated to Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, Sick Kids Foundation, Sunnybrook Foundation and Montreal Neurological.
